Loosing Weight The Hoodia Way

Interesting Hoodia Facts

Posted by borzack On April - 20 - 2010

Hoodia Gordonii, which is a natural appetite suppressant, is getting a lot of attention as a potent new weapon in the arsenal against obesity and the struggle to lose weight.  Hoodia has only been on the market since 2004.

Here are some interesting facts about Hoodia.

Hoodia Fact #1

Although Hoodia gordonii looks like a cactus, it is really a succulent native to the Kalahari Desert in southern Africa.

Hoodia Fact #2

Hoodia itself is not a drug, but an herbal supplement.  There are some pharmaceutical companies at work attempting to isolate the P57 molecule in Hoodia responsible for the appetite suppressant effect, so that a drug can be manufactured from it soon. In the US, Hoodia products must be labeled with a warning from the FDA, but most countries consider Hoodia a kind of food.

Hoodia Fact #3

Only the gordonii species of Hoodia can suppress the appetite. Other types of Hoodia do not work as well. Always look for “gordonii” on the labels of Hoodia products.

Hoodia Fact #4

Hoodia leads your brain to believe that you have eaten a large meal and are full.  But you don’t feel sluggish as though you have eaten a huge meal, you simply feel satisfied enough that you don’t want to snack.

Hoodia Fact #5

Hoodia may either work right away or take a while, depending on the individual.  On average, Hoodia will kick in after about 45 minutes, or 25 minutes in the case of liquid Hoodia.  To feel Hoodia’s full effects may take from 4 days up to as long as 2 weeks.  Each day it will work more effectively than the previous day.

Hoodia Fact #6

There are no known side effects of Hoodia gordonii.  There is never a racing heartbeat, jitters, nausea, or a problem sleeping.  It can be taken right at bedtime if desired.

Hoodia Fact #7

The San people have used Hoodia to control hunger and thirst during their treks across the Kalahari Desert for thousands of years.

How Hoodia Works

The amazing P57 molecule found in Hoodia acts on nerve cells as glucose does, telling the brain you are full.  Clinical research performed in the UK proves that Hoodia can reduce appetite, leading to a calorie reduction of more than 1000 per day.

Negative Side Effects

No negative side effects are known or have been reported by users.

Positive Effects

  • Users feel full more quickly.
  • Most users eat about 1000 fewer calories in a day.
  • It takes a longer time for hunger to return.
  • Users report a feeling of general well-being.  This is an effect not heard of from other weight loss supplements.  Many people become overweight due to emotional eating, for instance, eating more when they are depressed.  Hoodia’s instilling a sense of well-being will do that much more to help you to eat less, which would be a bonus to a large number of users.
  • There is an overall reduction in interest in food.

Another Reason Hoodia Works

For women who get cravings for salty snacks or chocolate en route to their periods, Hoodia can reduce these cravings.  It may also help cramps and your mood.

Hoodia is not the cure for all ills, won’t make you an instant ten, solve all your personal difficulties, and then make you  rich.  But it will help you to begin eating a sensible diet without feeling like you are depriving yourself.  Check out my Top Rated Pure Hoodia page for the best hoodia products.
